FROM THE PRESIDENT

Tanya Uritsky, 2023 SPPCP President

Welcome to the Society! Your membership is the most important part of our success and growth, and we greatly value your commitment to advancing pharmacists practicing in pain management, palliative care, and hospice. I hope that you will find this organization to be a place for you to network and grow for years to come.

I have had the good fortune of being a part of this organization and its growth from its inception.  I am so grateful for all we have become and I greatly anticipate where we are going. It is because of the contributions of our members that our achievements have grown and our foundation is strong. In a dynamic health care environment, we are ever growing and changing alongside each other. As a group, we can lean on and learn from each other. SPPCP offers many membership benefits that can promote and sustain your professional growth so that you can continue to thrive and grow in your career and as a vital member of the care team.

This year we will continue to work toward implementation of our strategic plan. We look to you, our amazing and capable membership, to achieve our goals. We get the honor of working together to increase the awareness of the role of pain and palliative care pharmacists, support the development of a specialization in pain and palliative care for pharmacists, develop sustainable leadership and organizational structure for the Society, and provide a strong value proposition for members through opportunities for education, networking, and development.

During my presidency, I hope to work with SPPCP leadership and our members to represent the Society and to advance our profession. I support ongoing efforts to promote education and specialty training and recognition. There is momentum to promote pharmacists as specialists in pain management, and as we sit on the prospect of certification, I hope we realize how this recognizes the work of so many dedicated individuals in the field and the amazing potential for future growth and development within our profession. I will work to ensure that SPPCP is involved as the experts and leaders in our field, in partnership with the excellent efforts of our committees. I believe that we have only just begun and great things lie ahead. We are an amazing team and I have the great honor of serving as President for SPPCP on this phase of our journey.

Please do not hesitate to reach out at president@palliativepharmacist.org at any time with questions, to let me know how the Society can best meet your needs, or to connect personally or professionally.

Respectfully,

Tanya Uritsky, PharmD, BCPP

2023 President, Society of Pain and Palliative Care Pharmacists
